When it is helpful to you, we are happy to incorporate Lola, Nicole’s dog, a 5-pound Yorkshire Terrier, commonly known as Yorkie, into psychotherapy sessions. Lola is NOT a trained therapy dog or service animal, but can be available to support clients during their therapy sessions.
Research has shown that animals can be helpful during therapy and treatment, as they can assist with one's emotional and psychological comfort. Thus, we believe that pets can be a helpful addition to therapy. However, an animal’s behavior cannot always be predictable so we provide clients with a consent form that outlines the possible risks and necessary rules to ensure clients health and safety (as well as Lola's), as we work together.
